The Project
Moth is the second 35mm short film made by Alison Reddihough and Simon Corris with their production company, Amulet Films. The film is represented by the British Council and has screened at numerous film festivals around the world, picking up awards for Best Film and Best Director along the way.
The Team
-
Producer - Alison Reddihough
Moth is a highly ambitious short film, requiring around £150,000 of visual effects sponsorship to fully realise the story. Following the success of our 1st 35mm short film, Ghosthunter, we were able to raise the necessary industry support to make this film. Moth was shot over one week at Shepperton Film Studios and one day out on location in nearby Twickenham.
-
Producer & Director - Simon Corris
The two great challenges for this film were casting the central character, 7 year old 'Tommy' and the creation of thousands of computer generated moths. Joseph Friend emerged following a thorough audition process and proved to be a highly talented young actor and a pleasure to work with. As for the moths, they just wanted a bigger winnebago!
-
Writer - Clifton Stewart
Moth was originally a 30 minute screenplay by writer Clifton Stewart. The team spent several months developing the story into the 12 minute short film it is today. At its heart remains the idea of a boy who's captivated by the idea of escaping his own private turmoil, using the 'magic dust' which he believes helps moths fly.
